Gary

I'm 26 years old and grew up in Massachusetts, but I've been having a torrid love affair with the City of Los Angeles for the past five years. I work as a freelancer on reality telelvision and feature film sets, and only two days after the latest feature production I am assistant directing wraps, I'll be on a bike for my first AIDS/LifeCycle ride. Having to camp out for the first time in over 9 years will certainly put my Boy Scout skills from high school to the test.

At the closing ceremony, I saw a man, probably in his early 30's, with a small boy. They were videotaping the arrival of all the bicyclists.

After a few hundred cyclists rode-in, dad smiled and pointed at a rider... looked at his boy and said "look, there's mommy!"

It was REALLY sweet.

Like you say... it was a very diverse crowd!

I signed up for my first LifeCycle/AIDS ride in 2009. Your "bike brain" blog is funny and insightful. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
