On 01 January 1994, I realized that there was more to life than: guzzling an expensive bottle of Robert Mondavi Chardonnay, being the belle of the ball, speaking of what others need to work on, and/or sitting daily on the same coach (in self pity). So, I bought a 10 year old Bianchi Road Bike. And I began a 6-month intense cycling training for a cycling event called the California AIDS Ride #2.
In May of 1994, I left San Francisco with $3.00 in my pocket, no idea of how I was going to return, a questionable bike, the fear of failure, and began to cycle (along with 1500 other cyclist) toward West Hollywood. Seven days, 575 miles later, I arrived in West Hollywood. At which point, I realized it is possible to step outside of your normal routine. I realized it is possible to empower yourself while assisting others. I realized that I wasn’t alone in my ideas of creating a better world. And I realized that miracles could occur (after all, I made it back home with $3.00 in my pocket) .
Having worked in the homes of Larry Alison, The Getty’s, The Joost, The Fishers, The John Deere Family, The Gallo Family, and The Japanese Consulate General of San Francisco.

I have many true life stories to tell.

In 1994, Tony Eason realized that there was more to life than: guzzling alcohol, snorting cocaine, ingesting ecstasy, speaking of what others need to work on, and/or bathing in self-pity. Therefore, he put down the cocaine and embarked on a 540-mile, 7-day bike ride titled California AIDS Ride by Tangeray #2 created by Dan Pallota & Pallota Teamworks.
Listen to how the cycling journey changed the course of Tony Eason's Life.

After 20 years of teaching yoga in San Francisco. Yoga Teacher, Tony Eason is interviewed by Magi Khoo of the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco.
Tony speaks of how he got introduced to yoga, and his feelings about his Iyengar Yoga Institute 2 yr. Advanced Teacher Training experience, and how hatha yoga can become more accessible to the African American communities.
From our first breath, we accumulate psychological baggage.
Attachés of what went wrong, Backpacks of what should have been, Suit Cases of excuses & misinformation.
After years of child abuse & racist encounters, I’ve realized: Each of us has the right and the responsibility to assess the roads which lie ahead, and those over which we have traveled.
After a bicycle crash in Berlin, Germany, with a fractured tibia, Tony Eason embarks on an emergency International Airline Flight home from Berlin Tegel "Otto Lilienthal" Airport [TXL} to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport [CDC] to San Francisco International Airport [SFO].
Although Tony requested wheelchair assistance; traveling with a boxed bicycle, suitcase and backpack, everything went wrong.
After 10 yrs. of laughing at others yoga students, debating the pros and cons of Iyengar vs Pattabhi Jois, and critiquing the knowledge of yoga teachers, I committed myself to the 2yr Advanced Teacher Training Program of the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco.
A small part of my commitment (for the next two years) was attending an asana class that would focus on “my posture.” Friday nights 6:00 - 9:00 pm.
During the yoga teacher training, the 2nd quarter teacher removed “my glorious ego" & restored humility to my life.

Being born in 1962; childhood was rough! Glad to see gay, transgender, queer and bisexual acceptance has improved.
"No one deserves to be bullied, ostracized, or made fun of ....
Everyone deserves to be respected for who they are ...
I pledge to spread this message to my friends, family and neighbors.
I will speak up against hate & intolerance whenever I see it, at school, work and "on the streets."
I will provide hope for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other bullied teens by letting them know that it gets better."

After 20 bike treks from San Francisco to Los Angeles in the fight against the #AIDS pandemic, yes, I have officially retired from the event.
However, it is very important to:
Remember where you came from.
2. Empower every individual you meet.
Therefore, this morning:
1. I joined forces with 14 Yr. AIDSRide AIDSLifecycle cyclist, Gary Lee.
2. I dressed like "the secret service" & greeted #TeamCretins at #SFO and assisted in delivering them to their destinations ....
Fabulous!
Special Note: At one point, I contemplated whether or not the general public might think I'm Rob Brouillard 's Body Guard! (laughter)….
Attention: Team Cretins,
Being the 20 Yr. Veteran AIDS/LifeCycle #Cyclist I am [grin], I understand the financial drain #bike events may cause for individual cyclist.
Therefore, in accordance with tradition, I extend my hand.
If any of the "Team Cretins" needs to avoid the cost of hotel expenses while arriving to the San Francisco start line of #ALC 2019. I will leave the light on! You can all crash somewhere within my house - GRATIS!
For more details, send me a private message and/or coordinate with Rob Brouillard …
May the wind be at your backs!

African American Gay Male speaks directly to Donald Trump!
In 1994, a good friend told me to sit in the nude for 10 minutes & stare into a mirror. And so, I did it. And as I looked at myself, I realized, I was not happy with the individual I had became. I realized, I deserve better. I realized, I was a cocaine addict. And soon following, in 1994, I changed my path through the use of physical activity. I rode a bike 575 mies from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
Since that time; I have ridden a bike 20 times from San Francisco to Los Angeles, California.
In 2002, I graduated from the Iyemgar Yoga Institute of San Francisco's 2 yr. Yoga Teacher Training Program.
In 2012, I became part of the 1% of 1% of the U.S. Population that has ever completed a marathon by finishing the San Francisco Marathon.
In 2014, I completed the Marine Corps Marathon.
In 2016, I completed the Amsterdam Marathon.
From a cocaine addict to a yoga teacher to an endurance road cyclist to a marathon runner - all in one lifetime....
The "Impossible" became the "I'm Possible." Special thanks to Dan Palotta & Palotta TeamWorks.
On 04 June 2017, AIDS/Lifecycle Cyclist, David R. Sears III, Tony Eason will bike their last and final 545 mile, 7 day bicycle trek from San Francisco to Los Angeles in the fight against the AIDS Pandemic.
After 32 years of persevering through wind, rain, cold temperatures & snoring, David & Tony had dreamed of avoiding the 7 consecutive days of life in a tent city by having their own Mercedes Sprinter sleep vehicle & bike support driver.
Yet, working as a Freelance Clothing Designer [David] & A Yoga Teacher [Tony] they can't secure the funds to make "Plan A" a reality.'' Therefore, they have put together "Plan B."
Instead of $5,662.00 [Mercedes SprinterSleep Vehicle & Driver] they only need to raise $1,800.00 [6 Hotel Rooms, SUBURU S90 & Driver] 'TO GO OUT IN STYLE.!
On 04 June 2017, 12th Yr. Cyclist, David R. Sears III. & 20th Yr. Cyclist, Anthony [Tony] Eason will bike amongst 2,500 other cyclist in the largest AIDS Fundraising Bike Event in the world - AIDS/Lifecycle. Each year they have enjoyed raising well over their $3,000.00 per cyclist minimum to participate. However, after 32 years [combined] of community service, this year will be David’s & Tony’s last and final 545 mile, 7 day bike trek from San Francisco to Los Angeles in the fight against the AIDS Pandemic. So, they want ‘TO GO OUT WITH A BANG!”
What do they want?
Averaging 85 mile daily bike routes for seven consecutive days is no easy task. Therefore, sleep is very important. So, as David & Tony pedal this chapter of their lives to a close, they dream of avoiding the life in a tent city & having their own Mercedes Sprinter sleep vehicle & driver. Yet, working as a Freelance Clothing Designer [David] & A Yoga Teacher [Tony] their funds are very limited.
David Sears, AIDS/Lifecycle Rider #1464 | I'm Riding to End AIDS
In 1998; my soul twin Nikki and I registered for a 545 mile bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles titled California AIDS Ride #5. We thought, “We ride bikes!” so we set a plan in motion.
We needed bikes. We needed to raise the $5,000.00 fundraising minimum to participate. We needed to travel from Los Angeles to San Francisco with the money & the bikes. We had three weeks. Unfortunately, we didn’t make the ride that year. Also,it wasn’t long before Nikki’s health would not allow us to participate.
In 2002, Nikki died from complications with his HIV medications.
In 2006, I saw a flyer for the same event [now titled AIDS/Lifecycle]. I immediately thought of Nikki and registered. I could not do the ride with him but I could do it in honor of him.
I got a bike, I raised the money and I participated in my first AIDS/Lifecycle. During the 7 day bike journey, I discovered: every time my brain & body thought it could not pedal on, Nikki’s spirit pushed me over the mountain.
This year I will embark on my twelfth 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS.
Anthony [Tony] Eason, AIDS/Lifecycle Rider #4415 | I'm Riding to Relieve the Suffering of Others
In 1994,, a friend suggested: “sit in the nude & stare into a mirror.” So, I did. And after staring (for 10 minutes) at my face, arms, stomach, eyes, feet and legs, I realized the mirror reflection did not match up with the words pouring out of my mouth.
So, I put down the cocaine; quit drowning in vanity; and became a positive addition to humanity by participating in a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The 545 mile bike experience changed my life while assisting in relieving the suffering of others.
This year I will embark on my twentieth 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. I’m honored to be able to assist in bettering the lives of others. Also, I am very “proud” of my personal life changes. From a cocaine addict to a road cyclist to a yoga teacher to a marathon runner. It all began with that first 545 mile, 7 day bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
One pedal stroke at a time .. . . . And one hell of a journey . . . .

And thanks to my mirror, I continue to improve myself & my reflection.

For a brief moment, I considered retiring from the AIDS Ride Experience. Yet, the idea of leaving 10th Yr. AIDSLifecycle Cyclist, David Sears alone in this 545 mile bike journey was unbearable!
Therefore, HOUSTON: WE HAVE A GO! In June 2016 , I will embark on my 19th journey from San Francisco to Los Angeles. And you?
