"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. You can quote them. Disagree with them. Glorify or vilify them. But the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do." --An advertisement by Apple Computer |
And a very hot and challenging day it was . . . .
"Day 3" - King City to Pasa Robles
1. Again, the alarm clock rings at 4:30am. As l opened my eyes, I wondered if my left leg is still attached to my body.
Why? Because as a result of yeterday's bike crash, I have road rash on the left hip and outer left knee. Yet, I found my leg to still be attached.
I proceeded to dress in my "Team Brazil" gear and limped over to the starting line.
Chick, Nate, Kyle, Tom, Barry, Shiv, and "Mr. Rio" were glad to see that I was still in the game. . ..
Upon arriving to pitstop 2, I popped 600 mg. of Ibprofen. Soon later, I went into "warp speed." And then, It became approximately 90 degrees in temperature, and "warp speed" went off line. Therefore, in order to avoid the heat, I road straight from pitstop 2 to the finish line. And here we are . . . .
Traditionally on my journey to Los Angeles, I focus on doing acts of kindness /or/ Karma Yoga. Part of my duties include being the "Bike Tech Bitch." Therefore, after my shower and setting up tent #B60, Tati, Nate, Isadora, and I visited the local Pasa Robles, Carls Jr. and got 6 orders of "fries to go with that shake" .. and delivered them directly to the bike techs - gratis. (However, it wasn't until the next morning that I realized that I still had their straws).
3. Here's some shout outs to the fans, family, friends, and then some ...
Mr. & Mrs. Eason .... I love you!
Rabiah Harrison (my housemate).....thanks for the miso soup, the great heart, and the listening ear.
Jamie Mastin & Fat Tire Beer .. . .Send a case of beer to the Marriot Hotel LAX (I'll be there on Saturday).
UPS - Your delivery men rock ..but the UPS woman at the AIDS LifeCycle bike parking is "the bomb."
Velo Girls Rock!
Mike's Bikes - Sausalito Cyclery - "Arron" - You're a RockStar!
Bella Cucina Catering - Lisa Hines "Thanks for 10 years of continued sponsorships ... And help, I'll need some work when I return"
Sarah Jane Evenson - I miss you.
Oprah , you've got 2 days to warm up the jet.
Closing Words:
It amazes me how people who can't pay their rent (when they return home), how people who have never road a bike, how people who have no idea how they are going to ride "again" tomorrow, how even CEO's have donated their services, how people from 17 to ? , the fat, the thin, the old, the young, the round, the tall, the short, the square, the liberal, the conservative, and the eccentric have joined together for a common cause.
It amazes me how dreams can become reality.
Got to go ..times up ..ciao
Wishing the best of all possible worlds,
